I should really update this more often. As in, more than every three years. The lentil now has a legume partner in crime (the peanut), he's in kindergarten at his montessori, and he reads like a champ.
His precocious language has easily and organically turned into a love of the written word, and we're so excited for all the wonderful books he will read in his lifetime. He easily reads chapter books, although he prefers comic books. He gets himself out of bed every morning at least 30 minutes early so he can read to himself. I find him in the corner of his room by the bookcase in his pyjamas, book on the floor, deep in thought. He reminds me of my brother as a child during those times- I can call his name, tell him to come to breakfast, but he doesn't respond at all. He is deep in book. I love it.
At age two, his brother likes books, but he also likes climbing around. We had our parent teacher conference with his teacher at the montessori and she said that the peanut likes being a goofball. For example, when she's taking roll, if there's a child absent the peanut will disguise his voice and answer for the absent child "here!". Then she'll look at him and ask him if that was really the peanut and he'll get his impish little grin and say "yesssss." See- total goofball.
I have some special children.
